The work and practice that began in September were on full display on Tuesday, December 16.
The Hillside Intermediate School gymnasium served as the theater for the school’s 5th Grade Band's concert.
The gym that morning was filled with family and friends who were entertained by a group of band students under the direction of their devoted director, Pat Kearns.
“ This was their debut concert,” Ms. Kearns revealed. “The record-size ensemble of 104 students has been playing for just three months, and in that time they learned several classic songs like Hot Cross Buns, Merrily We Roll Along, Down By the Station, and Lightly Row.”
Ms. Kearns also shared:
“Hillside is proud of them for the way they kept the beat, stayed together, and followed their conductor, Mrs. Patricia Kearns, after starting from the beginning in September!”
