Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District (BRRSD) provided updates to its 2024-25 district goals, emphasizing student achievement, equitable outcomes for all students, and enhanced community engagement.
On Tuesday, May 13, during the BRRSD Board of Education meeting, Robert Beers, Superintendent of Schools, reported notable academic progress, highlighted by a 97% graduation rate—up from 93% in 2022 and substantially above the New Jersey State average of 91%. The percentage of high school students enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) courses rose to 50.5%, with a projected increase to 57.6% next year. BRRSD has also expanded its dual enrollment program from 4 to 17 college-level courses and increased student participation from 40 to 133, partnering with Rutgers, Seton Hall, and The College of New Jersey. Students earning the Seal of Biliteracy awards more than doubled, from 80 in 2023-24 to 172 in 2024-25, recognizing proficiency in 20 languages.
Equity and inclusion remain central, with early implementation of full-day kindergarten set for 2025, one year ahead of schedule. Gifted and talented identification in grades K–4 increased from 351 to 407 students, and tiered intervention needs in grades K–6 decreased from 21% to 13%. The district is also enhancing mental health and wellness initiatives, including suicide prevention training, a 9th-grade transition program, and a structured learning lab that demonstrated improvement in 64% of participating students.
Major facilities investments include secure vestibules, HVAC upgrades, and a 6th-grade addition to the Middle School. With expanded communication tools, sustainable budget practices, and continued collaboration with local organizations, BRRSD remains committed to fostering excellence and opportunity for all learners.
