The district robotics competition is back at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.
Bridgewater-Raritan High School's FIRST Robotics Team - Team 303 T.E.S.T. Robotics - was selected this year to serve as the host of the final district competition of the 2027 season. The competition will be held on Saturday, April 10, and Sunday, April 11, 2027, in Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s spacious Vaughn Stapleton Gymnasium.
The competition will feature over 30 robotics teams from New Jersey, Delaware and Eastern Pennsylvania as they compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) game Biocore.
These squads will bid to secure a spot at the FIRST Mid-Atlantic (FMA) Championship at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, from April 14 to 17.
Bridgewater-Raritan High School had been a regular host of the FRC District competition each year until the COVID shutdown in 2020.
But according to Jim Griffin, the Advisor to Team 303 and a high school STEM Teacher, Bridgewater-Raritan High School has not held the event since then.
That changed with the arrival of some good news.
“Over the summer, FMA leadership approached our team to once again host this year, in part recognizing the incredible work the entire time put in last year, as we strive towards returning to our place as a perennial top team in the district,” Mr. Griffin said.
The district competition will be free and open to the public.
Meanwhile, Team 303 will be competing at RoboCon on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, at Bridgewater Commons.
The event will feature matches from last season's game, Rebuilt, in the mall's Center Court. There will also be STEM activities held throughout the mall, perfect for all ages. RoboCon is being held from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on both days.
