Madison and oipen house

An open house showcasing some well-crafted houses was held on Friday, May 15, at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

The house showing was actually held in Room 213 at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, and the exhibit was presented by the students in Madison Trevaskiss’ Home and Interior Design classes.

“My students have been creating model houses out of cardboard based on specific architectural styles. My Period 4 and Period 6 classes will be having an “Open House” where students will display their houses around the classroom and walk through to learn about one another’s designs and styles,” said Ms. Trevaskiss, who has made an impact in just her first year teaching at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

She continued with this imaginative project.

“For this project, students designed and constructed scale model houses out of cardboard based on a specific architectural style of their choice.”

Ms. Trevaskiss further explained this idea to showcase some creative work.

“Throughout the process, students applied concepts from interior and architectural design, including color theory, balance, texture, proportion, and visual appeal. They sketched their houses to scale, selected materials, painted and assembled their structures, and worked through real-world problem-solving and design challenges to create a finished, tangible product that reflected both creativity and craftsmanship.”

The students enjoyed their roles as house builders.

“I liked how creative this project was and that we got to use a lot of different materials to build the houses. I also liked how everyone’s houses were different, said Meredith.

“It was hard for me to start at first, but in the end, this project was so fun,” Genesis claimed.
