Taxes

At its March 17 meeting, the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District Board of Education received the 2026–2027 preliminary budget presentation from Business Administrator Kevin Lomski. The full presentation is available HERE.

This year's budget faced significant cost pressures in areas outside the district's control, including health care, energy, transportation, and out-of-district tuition. Even so, the administration remained focused on protecting instructional programming and advancing key priorities.

After a disciplined review, BRRSD proposed a 3.04% tax levy increase, among the lowest in Somerset County, reflecting our commitment to fiscal responsibility and respect for taxpayers. The budget moves forward with two major initiatives launching in September 2026: full-day kindergarten and the district-wide grade reconfiguration.

The public hearing and budget adoption will take place at the next Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, April 28. Community members are encouraged to attend in person or join via the live stream. Live Stream Link
