The week-long Central Jersey Music Education Association (CJMEA) 28th Annual Region II Concert Band Festival was kicked off in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District on Tuesday, March 17.
The Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School auditorium was the setting for the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, which performed with bands from five other New Jersey high schools.
Bridgewater-Raitan High School’s two bands were guided by Co-Band Directors Nick Mossa and Dr. Tom Bourgault.
Bridgewater-Raritan’s Symphonic Band launched the day’s schedule and was conducted by Mr. Mossa. The eighth and final performance was played by Bridgewater-Raritan’s Wind Ensemble, which was conducted by Dr. Bourgault.
The other bands that performed at the Middle School were Westfield High School, Arthur L. Johnson High School of Clark, New Brunswick High School, North Hunterdon Regional High School and Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.
“We are so pleased that the CJMEA Region Concert Band Festival was a success,” Mr. Mossa said. “Many thanks to our amazing Band Parent Association for coordinating volunteers to support the event, and a huge congratulations to the two Bridgewater-Raritan High School bands who performed this evening: Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.”
Mr.Mossa reported that the three adjudicators—Dr. Daniel Cook of Ithaca College, Donald Magee from Manassas, Virginia, and Michael Pote of Carmel, Indiana—applauded the performances at the Middle School.
“The three world-class adjudicators had great compliments and useful feedback for all the bands and were especially impressed with our two ensembles,” Mr. Mossa said.
The CJMEA 28th Annual Region II Concert Band Festival was also held for other scholastic bands from the central portion of New Jersey at North Brunswick Township High School on Wednesday, March 18, and at Highstown High School and Monroe Township High School on Thursday, March 19.
