library visit

Two experts in regards to libraries were impressed when they visited Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

Beth Bouwman, the Youth Services Department Supervisor for the Bridgewater branch of the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey, and Adam Petroski, the Library Director of the Raritan Public Library, paid a visit on Wednesday, February 18, to look over the newly renovated library at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

Their hosts were Abbe Rubin, the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Media Specialist, and Linda Schulte, who is the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Writing Center Technician for the Library.

The library directors noticed the redesigned Media Center, featuring new classroom furniture that creates a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, along with dedicated collaboration centers where students can work together on projects and presentations.

New printing stations provide convenient access to essential technology, while carefully designed quiet study areas that offer students focused spaces for independent work and research were also recognized by Ms. Bouwman and Mr. Petroski.

And they also saw that the lounge area is a major attraction for students.

The Bridgewater-Raritan High School Media Center is the final piece of the district-wide renovation of media centers in every school in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.

“I love the new renovation! It's a great multi-use space,” Ms. Bouwman said. “I was particularly impressed with how many different functions it has, with areas for socializing, relaxing, working collaboratively, or working independently, while still having a robust collection of materials.”

Ms. Bouwman added.

“ I'm jealous of all the shelves with wheels that make it easy to rearrange the space!”
