A state championship and the recognition of being the best boys’ swim team in New Jersey were achieved by Bridgewater-Raritan High School on the morning of Wednesday, February 25, in Neptune.
Bridgewater-Raritan, ranked No.. 1 in New Jersey, cruised past its Somerset County rival, fourth-ranked Hillsborough High School, 108-62, to win the Group A state championship.
At the same time, in that same pool located in the Neptune Aquatic Center, the third-ranked Bridgewater-Raritan girls’ team made it a sweep when it defeated No. 10 Cherry Hill High School East, 102.5-67.5, in the Group A state double dual meet.
The state championship for the Bridgewater-Raritan boys’ team was the fifth in the program’s history and first since 2018. Coach Evan Seavey’s team finished the season with a 12-0 record.
Bridgewater-Raritan’s dominating run to the state title included a 130-40 victory over 15th-ranked Rdgewood High School in the state semifinals.
Hillsborough finished 10-2, with both defeats coming at the hands of its fellow Skyland Conference foe, Bridgewater-Raritan.
The Bridgewater-Raritan girls’ team, which ended 12-1 under coach Chris Levin, won its sixth state championship and first since 2019.
