Football players from Bridgewater-Raritan High School who won the program’s first state sectional playoff championship this past fall were honored by the Board of Education on Tuesday, February 17.

The players received plaques for their historical accomplishment from Superintendent Robert Beers, High School Principal Dan Hemberger, High School Athletic Director Bill Deniz, and Board of Education members, President Mike Pepe, Jeremy Li, Jim Maloney, Steve Snger, and Barry Walker.

The players also received congratulations from Head Coach DJ Catalanao and his staff, who were also recognized during the halftime ceremony of Bridgewater-Raritan’s girls’ basketball game against Carteret High School.

Bridgewater-Raritan won the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 state sectional championship when it defeated Bayonne High School, 21-14, in the playoff title game on Friday, November 14, before an enthusiastic crowd at newly renovated Basilone Memorial Field.
