ceramics exhbiti winner

Thanushri Krishna Kumar was a typical freshman eager to try something new when she entered Bridgewater-Raritan High School this school year.

So she gave ceramics a try and enrolled in Angela Morijn’s Hand Building class this past semester.

Today, her ceramic work, which is titled “Snak,” will be exhibited at the 29th Annual National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition in Detroit, Michigan. The exhibit will run from March 25 through 27 at the Huntington Place Convention Center

Thanushri’s work will be among 150 pieces by students from across the country, all to be displayed.

According to Ms. Morin, over “1,000 pieces were submitted.”

“And Thanushri is one of those 150 selected,”  Ms. Morin said.

Her work will be shipped from Bridgewater-Raritan High School to Detroit, Ms. Morin reported.

Thanushri revealed that, aside from playing with Play-Doh as a kid, she had never worked on a ceramic project.

“I wanted to try something new,” she said when she picked the Hand Building ceramics class

Now she is hooked.

“I am going to be taking more ceramics classes over the next three years,” Thanushri confirmed.

“She has a lot of talent, and it is rare I get a freshman in my class,” Ms. Morin said. “We got her for more years to come.”
