BR theatre arts at broadway musical

The students in the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Theatre Arts program turned from actors to spectators.

A total of 46 Bridgewater-Raritan High School students and six staff members enjoyed a trip to New York City to attend the musical The Outsiders on Broadway on Wednesday, February 4.

Heather Diaforli-Day, the Director of the Theatre Arts program at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, coordinated the memorable trip for the students, many of whom were in the cast and crew of the Theatre Arts production of The Outsiders, which was superbly performed this past December 4- 6 in the Bridgewater-Raritan High School auditorium.

“We were really moved watching our students experience the show - some seeing a Broadway production for the very first time, others responding powerfully because of their personal connection to the piece,” Ms. Diaforli-Day revealed.

She added.

“Whether they had read it, seen it at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, or performed in it themselves, their reactions reminded us just how meaningful live theatre can be.”

Ms. Diaforli-Day was accompanied on this trip to Broadway by Sarah Nasson, the high school’s Art Teacher and Advisor to the National Art Honor Society, Olivia Matko, the Theater Arts Teacher, and the Drama Club and Musical Advisor at the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School. High School Nurse Alice Hadley, Karen D’Alosio, the Bridgewater-Raritan Theatre Arts Council President and Middle School Mathematics Teacher, and Rebecca Hassouna, who is the Fundraising Coordinator for the Bridgewater-Raritan Theatre Arts Council and the Vice President of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District Board of Education.
