Noelle Sapp is heading to the state championships in the Poetry Out Loud competition.

Noelle, a freshman at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, emerged as one of the two finalists from the Poetry Out Loud Regionals that were contested on Monday, February 2, at the Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) in Morristown.

She will compete in the New Jersey State Finals for Poetry Out Loud on Tuesday, March 3, at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank.

If Noelle wins the state championship, she will advance to the National Finals of Poetry Out Loud, to be held April 27-29 in Washington, D.C.

Noelle had qualified for the Regionals after she was crowned the champion at Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s 11th annual Poetry Out Loud competition on Friday, January 9.

Dr. Mark Jarmon, Supervisor of English at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, was ecstatic on February 2 when he heard the news from Morristown that Noelle had qualified for the state competition.

“Poetry Out Loud is always a memorable evening at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, and this year’s group was especially impressive. As the Supervisor of English and an avid reader of poetry, I’m thrilled that one of our students will be advancing to the state competition!”
