Lucais art

Another competition, another award for Lucia Bolle, a junior at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

Sarah Nasson, Bridgewater-Raritan High School Art Teacher and the Advisor to the National Art Honor Society, received notice on Friday, January 16, that Lucia was named the winner of the National Art Education Association’s “Art for All” Advocacy Design Competition.

“I am thrilled to share with you that our student Lucia Bolle's 'Art for All' submission has been selected as this year's winning design,” Ms. Nasson reported.

Ms. Nasson revealed what the competition involved.

“The National Art Education Association (NAEA) invited all National Art Honor Society (NAHS) and National Junior Art Honor Society (NJAHS) students to participate in the 'Art for All' Advocacy Design Competition.

Ms. Nasson further explained.

“This is a unique opportunity for student artists to use their creativity and voice to support and promote art education on a national level. The challenge was to design a compelling and original design that reflects the theme “Art for All”—celebrating the power of visual arts to inspire, connect, and advocate for access to arts education for every student, everywhere.”

Ms. Nasson described the next steps.

“The winning art design will be featured on official NAEA merchandise, sold at the NAEA 26 convention in Chicago and online, and the artist receives $250. The artist and their NAHS sponsoring teacher will be recognized on the NAEA website, NAEA's social media platforms, and in the NAHS news and NAEA news.”

Lucia’s work during the 2024-2025 gained state-wide recognition.

As a sophomore, she received the 2025 Art Administrators of New Jersey (AANJ) Visual Art Student Achievement Award as well as the Governor’s Award in Arts Education. A ceremony was held in the Bridgewater-Raritan High School auditorium in May 2025, when Lucia received her distinguished award, and was attended by state and Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District officials.

In March of her sophomore year, she was the recipient of two National Medals in the 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her work called Hello, World, which received a Gold Medal, and her work titled Sorrow–The Weight of Water, received a Gold Medal as the New York Life Award, resulting in a $2,5000 scholarship.

She was also accepted into the 2025 National Art Education Association (NAEA) National Art Honor Society (NAHS)/National Junior Art Honor Society (NJAHS) Juried Exhibition this past March.
