The 8th Grade band students from the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School experienced an early taste of the high school program.

On Friday, January 16, the morning after they performed brilliantly at the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School Winter Music Concert, the 8th Grade band members joined forces with the high school’s band students to play.

The band room at Bridgewater-Raritan High School was jammed with skilled musicians from both the high school and the guest 8th Graders from down the road.

They teamed up in an annual gathering that is held so that the students can become acquainted.

“We hold this so the 8th Graders can get exposure to what the high school band is all about,” Dr. Tom Bourgault, who is the high school’s Co-Director of Band with Nick Mossa. “This is a great experience to have the connections begin between the 8th Graders and our high school kids.”

The Middle School students were accompanied by their directors for this visit.

Middle School Band Directors Barron Caromano and Dr. Ashlen Udell and Orchestra Directors Caty Butler and Tim Nuzzetti attended the affair, one day after they had successfully conducted the Middle School Music Concert.

The 8th Grade orchestra students will follow with their visit to the high school on Wednesday, January 28, while the 8th Grade choir will pay their visit on Friday, January 30.
