BRHS Frosh Olympics

Freshman and senior students joined forces to produce an enthusiastic and energetic Olympic Games at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

The Bridgewater-Raritan High School's Student Council sponsored the Freshmen Olympics, a variety of games and matches that were played on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 28, and performed with plenty of excitement on the 1000 Turf Field.

The format was to bring seniors and freshmen together in an effort to claim a gold medal.

Five teams of six students—three seniors and three freshmen–plus a high school staff member, who acted as coach and cheerleader, competed in five events. Student Council members served as judges and referees.

The games were:

1-Keep Cone On Your Head Relay Race

2-Balloon Pop

3-Tug Of War

4-Octopus Relay Race

5-Red Light, Green Light

The organizers and coordinators of these fun games were the Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s passionate Student Council Co-Advisors, Michele Mammone and Sarah Cleary.

“It was great to see upperclassmen and freshmen working together and cheering each other on!” Ms. Mammone said.

The colors of the American flag came through with a 1-2-3 finish.

The Blue Team placed first to capture the Gold Medal. The Red Team was runner-up to pick up the Silver Medal and the White Team claimed the Bronze for its third place.

The winners won a t-shirt, a medal, and a tasty crumb cookie.

“The Student Council hopes that this event will grow even bigger next year,” Ms. Mammone said.
