NHS induction

The Bridgewater-Raritan High School chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) held its 2025 induction ceremony in the auditorium on May 28.

Students accepted into the society, along with friends and family members, were invited to a special ceremony where they would be recognized and introduced to the society and its core values.

The National Honor Society predicates its work on four main pillars of traits: scholarship, leadership, service and character. The Bridgewater-Raritan chapter, led by advisor . Denise Cimpko-Beller, has been active for several years, setting up volunteer programs at various important school events such as the annual freshman orientations. Junior students are eligible to be invited to the honor society, becoming fully active members in their senior year.

For the new members, the process began when they were invited to apply to the National Honor Society, fitting the eligibility criteria, which included a minimum grade point average and a positive standing in classes. Students were then tasked with filling out the entire National Honor Society application, which included multiple references that acted as testaments to the character and integrity of the students.

After all the applications were submitted and received, a special advisory committee from the honor society chapter reviewed all the candidates and selected individuals who would be inducted into the organization. Accepted candidates were contacted and invited to the induction ceremony.

Starting promptly at 6:15 p.m., the ceremony began with NHS President Sharanya Kothare providing opening remarks, welcoming the crowd of family members and friends to the special event. Accepted students sat on chairs on the auditorium stage as the society’s other leadership seniors explained each of the society’s aforementioned core values.

Once the remarks had concluded, the spotlight was directed towards the students as each accepted member was called up to accept their certificate in alphabetical order. Audience members cheered as each student walked across the stage, a moment of pride and triumph in their academic career.

After all of the students received their certificates, final remarks were provided, highlighted by words of encouragement and advice from Principal Daniel Hemberger. Once all the speeches had concluded, students and audience members were dismissed to take photos, socialize with one another and purchase goods and merchandise for the school’s NHS chapter.

Junior Ronak Hunashimarad reflected on his acceptance into the honor society.

“NHS was the culmination of years of academic excellence and service to the community. It is nice to be recognized for our efforts,” he said.

Acceptance into the National Honor Society is one of the most remarkable achievements for students, and the volume of new inductees at Bridgewater-Raritan High School encapsulates the success and abilities of the high school’s students.

NHS Co-Vice President and senior Siyona Naidu spoke about what it means to be a part of the NHS chapter.

“NHS is a great outlet to volunteer and make a difference in the Bridgewater-Raritan community. I really enjoy getting to organize events, and I like seeing the positive impact our seniors have, ” she said.
