The culture of Italy was celebrated in fine form on Friday, April 25.
On that day, the Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s Italian Honor Society served as the host to its Italian Culture Night at the high school cafeteria.
According to the Italian Honor Society Advisors, Giuseppina Bologno and Giuseppina DiMartino, “ this vibrant celebration was a collaborative effort between members of the Italian Honor Society, students, and faculty from the Italian language program. The event welcomed a large and enthusiastic crowd of students, educators, parents, and grandparents, all gathered to enjoy an evening of rich cultural traditions and community engagement.”
Ms. Bologno and Ms. DiMartino continued with their summary.
“At the heart of the celebration was a hallmark of Italian culture: cuisine. Guests were treated to an array of traditional Italian dishes, including pizza, pasta, and an assortment of authentic snacks and desserts. Beyond the food, the evening featured interactive and entertaining activities. A highlight of the night was the Kahoot trivia games, led by Italian Honor Society members. The Kahoot tested participants' knowledge of Italian culture, history, and general trivia, sparking lively competition and showcasing the students’ enthusiasm and dedication.
The arts were also prominently featured. The event opened with a live performance of Italian classical music by Edha Gupta, setting a wonderful and refined tone for the event. The energy lifted as students Ria Mukherji and Marisa Scott led the audience in the traditional Tarantella dance, inviting everyone to share in the joyous spirit of Italian folk culture.
Italian Culture Night was more than an evening of entertainment; it was a meaningful celebration of community and shared heritage. It offered attendees an opportunity to deepen cultural understanding, strengthen connections, and honor the traditions that bring people together.”
They concluded:
“As we reflect on the success of the event, we extend our sincere gratitude to all members of the Italian Honor Society, the supportive parents whose contributions made the evening possible. Their collective efforts ensured a memorable and enriching experience for all.”
