A busy—and productive—marching band competition season featured an opportunity to honor the Class of 2025 members.
The Bridgewater-Raritan High School Marching Band, which has already placed first in one competition and second in another event during New Jersey Marching Band Directors Association(NJMBDA) performances this autumn, took time off to hold its Senior Night on Thursday, October 10.
The ceremony was held during the evening when the Marching Band performed with its usual passion and enthusiasm at Basilone Field, where the Bridgewater-Raritan High School football team played Hillsborough High School. Bridgewater-Raritan was defeated, 34-24.
At halftime of the game, the ceremony to recognize the senior members of the Marching Band was held on the field.
Nick Mossa and Dr. Tom Bourgault, the Co-Directors of the Bridgewater-Raritan High School marching Band, watched with pride while the Class of 2025 was honored.
"Our senior class this year is a very special group. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to celebrate their leadership, experience, and excellence at the halftime ceremony,” Mr. Mossa said.
The high school’s Marching Band “Journey to the Bottom of the Sea,’’ earned Bridgewater-Raritan first place in the AAA Class in the opening competition of the NJMBDa season on Saturday, September 21, at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.
The Marching Band then placed second in the following week of the NJMBDA competition in Class AAA at John P. Stevens High School in Edison on Saturday, September 28.
Bridgewater-Raritan will next compete in the Bands of America Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship on Saturday, October 19, at the University of Delaware. In Newark, Delaware, Bridgewater-Raritan will compete against bands from New Jersey, North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and New York.
Upon competing in Delaware, Bridgewater-Raritan will then perform in a Bands of America competition at Rutgers University on Saturday, October 26. The NJMBDA State Championships are on Sunday, November 3, at The College of New Jersey in Ewing.
