Bus Stop Change Requests

• Requests will be reviewed on case by case basis.
• Please allow 5 to 10 days for processing
• If approved, an updated pass will be received thru your school (please note effective date on pass)
• Forms can be completed in the Parent Portal

Babysitter Requests During School Year

1. Please access the form in the Parent Portal.   
2. Transportation will process requests within 7 days of receipt.  
3. If approved, an updated pass will be received thru your school (please note effective date on pass)

General Information

• Drivers are not permitted to make “special arrangements” without approval from the Transportation Department
• Concerns and complaints are handled as they are received, however, they all require investigations and thus please recognize this is not a quick process

Below are some helpful tips for keeping children safe at the bus stop. These tips are meant for students of all ages and parents/guardians.

For Students

• Stand back at least 10 feet from the road while waiting for the bus. Do not play games or run around near the designated stop.
• As the bus approaches, please form an orderly line without running or pushing others to be the first in line.
• When crossing in front of a bus, look at the driver first for directions and always cross in front of the crossing gate arm.
• DO NOT walk behind the bus.
• DO NOT bend to pick something up that may have dropped – the driver may not see you. Tell the driver first and wait for instructions.
• Be respectful of the property of others at the bus stop and on the bus.

For Parents

• Younger children should be supervised at the bus stop (coming and going) by a parent/guardian or another adult.
• If you drive your child to the bus stop, keep your vehicle away from the bus stop so you are not blocking others or obstructing traffic or the vision of other drivers.
• Parked cars must be 25 feet back from the intersection by law and cannot be parked in the wrong direction of traffic.
• Maintain a lawful clearance of all driveways, walkways and mailboxes.
• Have children form an orderly straight line as the bus approaches.
• Have children respect the homeowner’s property at the designated bus stop.
• Before your child exits the car to get on the bus, look carefully for any unsafe conditions.
• Children should never be permitted to run alongside a bus.
• If your child misses the bus, please take them directly to school instead of following the bus to the next stop.
• All children should arrive at their assigned bus stop 10 minutes prior to the designated time.
• Personal items can cause a safety hazard. Please check your child’s possessions to make sure there are no dangling items; such as, long scarves, drawstrings, loose clothing or oversized backpacks/lunch boxes.
