Theater Arts program received four distinguished honors from Montclair State

The on stage performances by the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Theater Arts Program and International Thespian Honor Society Troupe No. 5154 produced another award-winning show at Montclair State University.

 

The high school’s Theater Arts Program and Thespian Honor Society received a combined 11 nominations and came away by winning four categories when the Montclair State University’s 15th Annual Theater Night Awards High School Ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 17, on the college’s Memorial Auditorium.

 

The husband-wife team of Tom and Teresa Gunning who are the Co-Director’s of the Bridgewater-Raritan Theater Arts Program, attended the ceremony that is titled “The Foxy Awards.”

 

The high school’s productions of “Chicago '' during April 2022, “Antigone” in October of 2022 and “Puffs” in December of 2022 were the the candidates for the awards.

 

“Antigone” was the recipient of all four awards.

 

Here are the four winning categories and the name of the student actor.

 

Outstanding Achievement by an Actor in a One Act Play - Derek Boxer.

 

Outstanding Achievement by an Actress in a One-Act Play - Sidak Chahal.

 

Outstanding Production of a One-Act play.

 

Outstanding Achievement in Movement/Choreography,

 

 

According to Ms. Gunning, Bridgewater-Raritan has participated in the Montclair State University award program since 2019.

 

And since that time, Bridgewater-Raritan has won nine awards and earned 35-plus nominations.

 

“Over 100 schools entered the competition, so we are quite proud of our students and the number of nominations/wins we received,” Ms. Gunning said.
